New ETL-C Code
The providence of Ontario Canada
has announced a new ruling on labeling
and reporting 'electrical products'
on manufacturers, importers,
distributors, retailers, Certification
Organizations and field evaluators.
You can read for yourself at
www.esasafe.com the regs. What we
see plain and simple is a back door, Yearly, tax and reporting and another
certification sticker required
by a Province. Our products sold
into Canada, have ETLc electrical
certification, and CSA, now this new redundant requirement intrudes on HIX will register as a manufacture (required by APRIL 1, 2009). We can not cover our distributors that resell into Ontario. Those that do so are required to register and comply per the regs. Therefore, if you sell and don't have the documentation, sticker, and reports etc the product will be stopped at the border and returned to you. Now you see the TAX and supporting bureaucracy being placed on importers (because Ontario, as a Province can't impose duties). We can not drop ship for you... as you are the 'seller of record' and as such you must comply. In the end this all cost money and as such the user in Ontario will burden this cost. Effective April 1, 2009 HIX will, on our shipments into Ontario, charge $35/ per product sold into Ontario. |
